CT3

What they do

CT3 was founded in 2009 as The Center for Transformative Teacher Training, by educators Lee Canter and Kristyn Klei Borrero. Canter and Borrero formed the company in response to requests they received from educators around the country to provide training in their model of professional development. CT3’s mission is to transform the quality and culture of education for youth, especially those in underserved communities. Alongside their partners, CT3 implements equity-based practices that deconstruct systems that have historically impeded the opportunities for the growth and success of disenfranchised youth.

Why we invested

The purpose of the Employee Ownership Catalyst Fund is to support businesses throughout the U.S. that want to transition to employee ownership and need capital to finance the transition and transaction, focusing on businesses with low-wage workers and workers of color. Capital from the fund will be used to support CT3 in transitioning to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The ESOP advisory team includes Kirsten Burke (senior director of financial operations), Nataki Gregory (CEO), and Greg Pace (CFO/COO). CDFI Community Vision participated in this loan.
