Founded by Jeffrey Lynch, Idle Smart helps fleets and independent owner-operators reduce emissions and fuel consumption as a result of truck idling times. Idle Smart’s technology and platform have reduced over 200 million pounds of carbon dioxide since the company’s inception. Idle Smart’s proprietary software uses the vehicle's engine and existing HVAC to heat and cool the cabin, charge batteries, and warm the engine and fuel lines, reducing overnight idling in sleeper cabs by 50% to 70% and potentially saving between $3,500 to $6,000 in fuel expenses per year. This loan provided working capital for Idle Smart to cover deposits to suppliers for components. Idle Smart came to the LACI Cleantech Debt Fund from Evergreen Climate Innovations. The LACI Cleantech Debt Fund, managed by Mission Driven Finance, invests in companies working on solving challenges related to climate change.
