What they do:
Microtek specializes in developing microelectronic technologies that integrate engineering with chemistry and biology. Co-founded in 2015 by siblings Tri and MyPhuong Le, and Leah Villegas, Microtek manages early research and development, prototyping, manufacturing, and product development. Their mission is to accelerate the integration of engineering and life sciences to improve human health.
Why we invested:
Microtek learned about Mission Driven Finance through the Asian Business Association San Diego Small Business Development Center. Driven by a desire to prove that one can build a successful business without compromising ethics, Tri plans to build a network of other businesses, creating an innovation hub, and bringing more quality jobs to the region by adding five to ten positions by 2021. Microtek is working on implantable devices to detect breast cancer and a portfolio of intellectual property for patenting.
